How I Drink my Coffee Hot is now called This Playful Home
Around two years ago, I launched this Substack newsletter. What originally started as an experimental project has now become my main avenue for sharing content. If youāve been here since the start, you mightāve noticed some name changes along the way and now weāve come full circle.
Initially, I wanted to differentiate this offering from my website, thisplayfulhome.com as it got a little confusing to have two things with essentially the same name. However, Iāve made a big decision about the future of my website so How I Drink my Coffee Hot has now reverted to its original name āThis Playful Homeā.
The reality is, hosting a website is incredibly expensive. In January, Iām due to renew my website again and itās a cost that I just cannot justify right now. Having my own website costs Ā£Ā£Ā£s each year and thatās before I add on the cost of additional extras such as course hosting and shop functions.
In addition to this, Iām a teacher not a website designer, and constantly having to solve back-end website issues and resolve design problems was time consuming.
Thatās ultimately why Substack is so brilliant. When you upload a photo or write a post, it works. Yes, they do take a percentage of the small amount of money I earn publishing paid posts here, but I also donāt have to pay them money upfront.
So whatās changing?
Over the next few months Iāll be transferring all of my website posts onto Substack. These will be free for everyone to view so Iāve also made the decision to turn off the paywall for archived posts.
Due to the sheer volume of posts that I will be transferring, I wonāt bombard you with them in email form. I will however do a weekly round-up email so you can browse the content that appeals.
I will be transferring my domain name www.thisplayfulhome.com over to Substack. This means that the people who discover me via Pinterest and Instagram will still be able to see my content.
Whatās staying the same?
The paid series A Playful Year will continue to be available for paying subscribers. I will also continue to write weekly free content on the topics of family rhythms, home environment and play.
Any questions? Let me know!
