The Power of Family Time: How Spending Time Together Can Improve Your Relationships and Happiness
How to make family time a priority in your daily, weekly and seasonal rhythms
Did you know that the average family in the United States only enjoys 37 minutes of quality time with one another every day? The study of 2000 American Families by Visit Anaheim highlighted ‘hectic’ scheduling during the average week as the reason. Work commitments, organised sports, household chores and school expectations are the main reasons family’s struggle. In the UK, it’s a similar story. A 2021 study conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Aunt Bessie’s (makers of frozen roast potatoes, in case you were wondering), showed that the average British Family spent just four hours of quality time with one another each week.
Family time is important because it provides an opportunity for family members to connect, bond, and build strong relationships with one another. Spending quality time together can improve communication, increase understanding, and help to create a positive and supportive family environment. Family time can also provide a sense of stability and security, especially for children, and can help to create lasting memories. In today’s fast-paced world, taking time to focus on family can also reduce stress and promote a better work-life balance.
In this week’s newsletter, we will explore how to make more time for one another because human connection is crucial for our overall wellbeing.
