I’m sure by now that you’ve heard of the 5 Love Languages of Children, but did you know that you also have a play personality, too?
I first became fascinated with the idea of play personalities when my youngest son arrived. Unlike his sister, he was not content to sit quietly and act out intricate stories with the toys in the play space. Instead, he wanted to be on the move all the time. Whether climbing, running or kicking a ball, he is, in many ways, I guess a more ‘stereotypical’ little boy. However, he was also much different to his older brother, who loved creative activities and building complicated structures out of Lego.
So how can three children, all from the same parents, growing up in the same environment, be so different when it comes to play? Well, according to Dr Stuart Brown, there are eight play personalities. Knowing and understanding these play personalities will not only help you connect to your child, but reconnect with what you enjoy, too.
